2019-05-11: Task 1
Write a letter to the local council to stop the closure of a children’s playground in your area.
In your letter, you should:
- tell him how important the playground is
- explain why you don’t want to close it
- suggest what advice you want them take.
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am Roxie Smith – one of the “Mansoon” area residents. I am writing to you with regard to the plan you have recently announced about destruction of the “Plaza” playground.
First of all, I would like to point out the importance of having a play ground in the area. Parents used to take their children there when it was newly built up. Not only it was a great source of entertainment for children, but also it gave their parents the chance of making each other’s acquaintance and forging new relationships.
Sadly, it has been a long time that municipality stopped doing regular maintenance works on the playground. Its facilities are now quite out of order and some of them are even unsafe. Besides, some delinquents gather there in the evenings which in-turn leads parents not to let their children play there.
I believe taking some actions could be practical to make “Plaza” useful again as opposed to taking the easy way and destroying it. I would suggest that you allocate some of your budgets to run a renovation process and facilitate it in a way that it conforms to safety regulations. In addition, it is recommended that some police officers assigned with the task of patrolling there in order to make it a desirable place for families.
Your sincere attention and prompt action are deeply appreciated.
Yours faithfully,
Roxie Smith
