(1) For those who live in northern of China
1.What’s (the name of) your hometown?
The name of my hometown is Beijing, it is a huge, vibrant city and the capital of China. I have lived here from a very young age and feel very comfortable in my hometown. As one of the most populous (人口 众多)cities in the world, Beijing has a large population. Therefore, there is a vast array of different people and cultures which keeps my hometown constantly interesting.
2.Is that a big city or a small place?
As it is the capital of China, Beijing is a very big city. So it is the industrial and economic heart of the country, and throughout history many people have migrated (迁移) here from other parts of the country seeking opportunity. Therefore, there are currently over 20 million people living in Beijing so it has to be very big to accommodate everyone.
3.How long have you lived there?
I have lived in Beijing almost all my life. I was actually bom in Tianjin but my parents moved to Beijing when I was a very young child, only a couple of years old. So it feels like I have lived in Beijing my entire life, so almost two decades. I could not imagine living anywhere else.
4.Do you like it? 5.Do you like living there?
I really like my hometown. Because it is such a huge city, there is a very diverse range of people and entertainment. Every day you see someone new and I enjoy the vast array of life I get to witness when I walk around. There are also so many different restaurants and shops to choose from and experience so I never get bored in my hometown.
6.Is there anything you dislike about it?
One thing I really dislike about my hometown Beijing is the air pollution. It worries me very much as it has been proven that the air pollution is very harmful to people’s health and there is very little you can do to prevent being affected by it. Furthermore, it is very ugly to look at especially in winter when there is a heavy smog in the air.
7.What do you like (the most) about your hometown?
The thing I like the most about my hometown is definitely the people of the city. People in Beijing are very friendly and enthusiastic (热情的).The people create a very nice environment to live in and everyone is kind and helpful to each other. I think this makes my hometown a very pleasant place to live and prevents me from feeling lonely in such a big city.
8.Do you think you will continue living there for a long time?
Yes, I love this city and I think I will continue to live there for many years because I have get used to the climate and the lifestyle of the city. Also, it is an international city and have a sea of working opportunities. So, I am going to work there when I finish my further education.
(2) For those who live in southern of China
- What’s (the name of) your hometown?
I am from Guangzhou, capital city of Guangdong Province China. It is called “Flower City” where flowers are blooming (盛放)in all seasons of the year.
- Is that a big city or a small place?
Well, Guangzhou of course is a big city. Actually, it is the fourth largest city in China. And it is the political, economic and educational center of southern China. It’s an international city. It is busy and exciting and yet you can find quiet places to spend time too.
- How long have you lived there?
Since I was born, I have been living in Guangzhou for about 20 years. This is the place where I live and study. I love this city and I think I will continue to live there for many years because I have got used to the climate and the lifestyle of the city.
- Do you like it? Do you like living there?
Sure. I enjoy living in Guangzhou because I have got used to the climate and the lifestyle of the city. It’s an international city. It is busy and exciting and yet you can find quiet places to spend time too. I grew up there so that’s one reason I like it. Another reason is its delicious Cantonese cuisine which is the food I am familiar with.
- What do you like (the most) about your hometown?
Guangzhou is well-known for its Cantonese cuisine which enjoys great popularity all over the country. In Guangzhou, people like to gather at the restaurants for their morning tea every day. It is the food culture I like the most in Guangzhou.
- Is there anything you dislike about it?
I really dislike the traffic jams in Guangzhou. With more and more private cars in Guangzhou, traffic jams are the crucial (至关重要的) problem for the city. Every morning, buses and cars are stuck on the main road and the bridges which cause more pollution in the city.
- Do you think you will continue living there for a long time?
Yes, I love this city and I think I will continue to live there for many years because I have got used to the climate and the lifestyle of the city. Also, it is an international city and so it has a sea of working opportunities. So, I intend to work there when I finish my further education.
