What kind of work can young people do in foreign countries?

I think it depends on what everyone is capable of. If someone is outgoing, communicative and good at the local language, he or she can probably serve as a waiter or a waitress. Of course, they could also find jobs in local Chinese agencies or companies. These agencies and companies are always in need of Chinese-speaking staff, although ifs not the ideal job if you go to that foreign country in order to improve your language abilities.

Is it good for young people to have the experience of living in other countries?

Yes, it is. It’s important for young people to open up their eyes and minds and see more of the world. With COVID-19, now it is probably most difficult for someone to go abroad. But living in foreign countries really is a horizon-broadening experience. For instance, students who go on exchange in my university always return with exciting stories to tell. Living and studying independently in a country far away from one^‘s homeland helps enhance one^‘s overall capabilities as well.

Why are some people unwilling to work in other countries?

They may be not so fluent with the language. Being able to communicate effectively is the baseline of almost any job. I can’t imagine working in many lines of work if you cannot speak the language. Or these people may also feel uncomfortable working in another culture. They may feel that their foreign colleagues are not so welcoming, or work not as hard, but that’s mostly because of cultural difference. I understand that most of us only feel secure with people like our own.

What’s the difference between working in an international company and working in a domestic one?

I think working in an international company means that you need to use English on more occasions than you do when you work in a domestic company. International companies also offer you more opportunities to go abroad for business travels, or to interact with foreign colleagues. Domestic companies, on the other hand, are more focused with business in their own country, which means they have a smaller range of businesses, but probably more specific.
