1. Why do people lie sometimes?
I think most people try to avoid lying when they can. It is always better to tell the truth and be honest with people. However, people sometimes lie to each other to protect someone from having their feeling hurt. Sometimes it is better to lie than to upset someone when the lie is not too important. However, some people lie all the time just because it benefits them to or they do not have the strength to tell the truth.
2. How would you define white lies?
I would define a white lie as a lie which does not cause anyone any harm. A white lie is when you have not told the truth but you did it for good reasons. You did it to protect someone’s emotions or to let them live in peace without the knowledge of something they do not need to know. For example, parents will often tell their children their pet dog has gone to live on a farm instead of telling them that is has died to protect them from the knowledge of death.
3. Do you think it’s important to teach children to be honest?
I think it is very important to teach children to be honest. Honesty is not always easy, it is often much easier for people to lie than to tell the truth. So it is important that children are taught it is right to be honest from a young age, so it is a habit which is engrained in them. Honesty is important in all parts of our society, therefore, children to be honest so they are good citizens.
4. What are the other about honesty except having parents or teachers teach them?
I think a good children honesty, apart from having parents or teachers teach them, is through art and literature. There are many novels and stories which demonstrate the importance and goodness of honesty. These are great ways for children to learn the positive effects of honesty and the negative effects of lying. The same is true of films and TV shows. Often these forms are art are written with a moral message behind them and most of them demonstrate the goodness of honesty.
