1. What leisure activities are popular in China?
There are quite a range of leisure activities which are popular in China because China is a country made up of a very diverse range of people. Some people’s favourite leisure activities are sports based, both tennis and basketball are quite popular sports in China and many people like to play them for recreation. However, there is also a large video game culture in China and for some people they would much rather play video games than play sports.
2. What leisure activities do young people like?
I think that for young people playing video games is a very common and popular leisure activity. For example, the Nintendo Switch is an incredibly popular video game console and loads of young people like to spend their free time playing the Switch with their friends. There are many different games to play on the Switch and most of these games are multiplayer. So young people can play the Switch with their friends for hours and hours and not get bored.
3. Do leisure activities have to be educational?
I do not think it is important for all leisure activities to be educational. It is good for some leisure activities to be educational as we should always encourage fun and enjoyable ways to learn as a society. But it is also important that as a society we have fun activities which exist just for the sake of being fun. Life can be stressful and hard, so we need ways to relax and unwind. Sometimes, it is better for things not to be educational so people can be comfortable and happy.
4. Do men and women like different leisure activities?
I think men and women do like different leisure activities. It is more common for men to play sports together in their free time as a leisure activity. Many men like to play basketball or football together as a way to relax. In contrast, I believe women are more likely to do cultural things in their free time. Women prefer going to art galleries, going to the cinema or reading books as a way to relax and unwind in their free time.
