1.Do you think traditional letters are a good way to send messages?
I think traditional letters are a good way to send messages only in very specific contexts. A handwritten letter is a brilliant way to send a very important and meaningful message such as a thank you card or a get well soon letter to a sick relative. This is because handwritten letters show that you care and love the person enough to take the time to write. Otherwise, letters are not an effective way of communication compared to emails and SMS.
2.Why do people make phone calls instead of sending messages when there is something important?
People make phone calls instead of sending messages when there is something important because it is far more effective to communicate through speech than through writing. For example, when we talk people can hear the emotion and energy in our voice, which is very important for understanding the message. Communicating through messages takes longer and can often be unclear. Thus, for important messages it is better to call.
3.Is it more polite to make phone calls than send text messages?
It is definitely more polite to make phone calls than send text messages because it is more personal. When you phone someone you are demonstrating (证明)to them that they are worth the time to give them a call and devote your complete attention to them. In contrast, text messages can often seem very impersonal and distracted, which makes them seem impolite. Therefore, it is always more polite to call someone than to send them a text message.
4.Does technological development have a negative impact on communication among people?
There are both advantages and disadvantages to technological development on communication among people. Many advances in technology have facilitated (促进) a greater communication between people. Nowadays we can phone and video chat people who are thousands of miles away. However, some people believe that all this technology is decreasing people’s abilities to have meaningful face to face conversations. Nowadays people would rather send a text message than have a real conversation.
