Describe a time when you ate something for the first time

I have had much different food in my life; some are tasty; while others are terrible. Today I would like to share the story of when I had the Italian Risotto for the first time.
In the summer two years ago, I traveled to Italy where most people didn’t speak English well, so I had a hard time communicating with them. One day I went to an Italian restaurant for lunch. The customer service staff didn’t speak English at all, and to make matters worse, my phone was out of battery, so I couldn’t communicate with them using the Google translator. Before I ordered, the staff showed me a menu full of Italian and no pictures at all. I was really desperate. After a long struggle, I ordered a risotto dish based on my imagination on flavor, even though I had no idea what the ingredients were.
When the dish was served, I was pleased about it because of two reasons. Firstly rice was the thing I ate every day and the dish was rice cooked in the Mediterranean style: wet, partially cooked, mushy mess. It contained butter; onion, white wine, and cheese and was oven-baked for 1 hour. Secondly; the taste was very delicious. Since then, I’ve discovered my love for various other Italian dishes and became a big fan of Italian cuisine.
