Why are some children more intelligent than others?

First of all, people are born with different IQs. Ifs something that is written in the genes, so this part is “nature”. Of course, intelligence comes from “nurture” as well, so parental involvement is also important. When a smart baby has intelligent parents who care about his or her upbringing and devotes themselves to it, I’d say there’s a good chance of this baby growing up into someone more intelligent than his or her peers.

Who do you think plays a more important role in a child’s development, teachers or parents?

I think parents are the best teachers. We spend the most time in our childhood with our parents, and I think what they do every day affect our future behavior. For instance, my father respects and cares for my mother, which has a positive effect on me. I couldnt learn it in school otherwise. And also, teachers face a large number of students every day, and you cannot expect them to give the child sufficient attention. So, I think this responsibility still goes to the parents.

Do you think smart people tend to be selfish?

No, I dont think that is always true. It’s a stereotype when people say that smart people would more probably have bad ideas and trick other people. It’s true that some tricksters have high IQ but use it in the wrong way. But I think there are also not-so-smart people who are selfish and do bad deeds. That depends more on moral standards than intelligence. Prioritizing one’s own interest is human nature, not only the nature of smart people.

Are smart people happier than others?

No, I don’t think so. Smart people are usually more sensitive to other people’s moods or to changes in the world, which means it’s easier for them to discover negative emotions or bad stuff and become unhappy. Think about philosophers—many of them committed suicide. Students in top universities or holding higher degrees are also more likely to fall into depression. I think it takes a lot more effort for smart people to be happy, because they need to ignore the pessimistic sides of life, which they clearly observe.
